Here below is a photo to make you smile. Pictured is Hedley Rhodes, Chairman of the Olympus Group of companies with his first Great-Grandchild Solomon!

Little Solomon is the son of Antonia and Michael Stallard, Antonia is the daughter of Hedley's son Tony Rhodes. It looks like both of them could do with a haircut!

Hedley still remains active in the business from his base in the Isle Of Man but is still a frequent visitor to Tenerife and our UK office in Keighley.

We were pleased to host well known footballers Nicky Summerbee (son of Mike) and Eric Nixon to Club Olympus this weekend. Both were here to take part in the annual '7's' tournament  which included many veteran footballers.

From left to right we have Nicky Summerbee (Man City), Ray Karlsen (Southport & Bradford Park Avenue), Eric Nixon (Man City & Tranmere ) and Terry Tomlinson (didn't play for Rochdale or anybody else for that matter).

Starting his football career at Swindon, Nicky went on to have a solid stint at Manchester City, followed then by Sunderland. He went on to play for Bolton, Notts Forest and then had three seasons at Bradford City.

Ray Karlsen is the In-House Manager at Club Olympus. In his former life he played professional football at Southport, Stockport County and Bradford Park Avenue before moving into the fashion business in his native Liverpool.

Terry Tomlinson is a well known Rochdale character who spends plenty of time at Club Olympus in the winter.

Eric Nixon, (on the right hand side of Ivan), has had a very interesting career. He was Goalkeeper at Manchester City between '83 and '88. When City sent him out on loan for the '86-'87 season he entered the Guiness Book of Records for being the only Goalkeeper to play in all four divisions in one season. That year he played at Wolves, Bradford City, Southampton and Carlisle! Click here to see an interesting interview with Eric for "Goalkeeper" Magazine

He then settled at Tranmere Rovers for the majority of the rest of his career. Here he is below doing what he does best...............................

.............................Talking!

The lads had a great time with us and enjoyed chatting with Club Olympus owners and guests as well as re-hydrating themselves after the weekends football (with copious amounts of John Smith's)

Here they are with Mick Wilkin of the Olympus Poolside Bar.

It was a pleasure to have Nicky and Eric at the resort with us, resplendent in their Club Olympus shirts and baseball caps, and we look forward to seeing them soon!

A favourite place for Jane and I is this gorgeous retreat in the fishing village of La Caleta. We have mentioned it before but it was a while ago. The food here is Italian based and is superb.

But what really makes this place is the location. It is right on the seafront and the view is just lovely day or night. Below are a couple of shots to show you what we mean.

This is the view to the right of the restaurant looking overlooking the restaurant 'Masia Del Mar' (another favourite) and the point of La Caleta. These photo's were taken at about 4 in the afternoon. The shot below is looking towards the left.

The delightful village of La Caleta is certainly a favourite spot for many owners and guests at Club Olympus. It's certainly a favourite spot for my son Ivan who we caught here when he should have been working!!

Doesn't he look innocent?

Anyway, we really enjoy visiting this place which can be found on the main road through La Caleta. It really is a 10 minute drive from Club Olympus and is a wonderfully peaceful watering hole to visit and in which to relax.

Outside is the trademark carved wooden Komodo Dragon as you can see here.

And just look what we saw perched on the giant lizards head!

While it is not the cheapest of places to dine or drink, you do get value for money in these surroundings. If you need directions to 'Rosso Sul Mare' just ask any Club Olympus team member and they will gladly assist.

Enjoy and 'Bon Provecho'

Hedley
