The idea of showing you our walks is to give you an insight into the 'other side' of Tenerife. All of the places we show you are easily accesible by car so if you hire a vehicle for a day or two it is certainly possible to enjoy the Tenerife countryside.
The mountain pictured below was our walking target for the day. It is about 20 minutes by car from Club Olympus in Garden City in the vicinity of the tiny village of 'Ifonche'.
It was quite cool up in the mountains, we were at about 3,000 feet by car so heading up to about 4,000 feet. There was a bit of cloud around so walking conditions were perfect.
Here is young Terry Tomlinson (78) of Rochdale fame, making the ascent with a fabulous backdrop of Tenerife scenery behind him. It is quite a steady climb but of course if you want a view, you have to pay for it one way or the other!
Pictured above is me (Ivan of Club Olympus), nearly at the top. In the far distance you can make out the peak of Mount Teide, the highest point in Spanish Territory at over 12,000 feet. The view here is due North-East. After a brisk and heart-pumping climb we were almost at the summit.
Terry and Sedge (Peter Rhodes) at the top enjoying the view over the South of the Island and enjoying a refreshing beer after some stiff excercise.
Wild Lavender grows all up the side of this mountain so the air was clean, cool uhren replica and fresh with a hint of Lavender scent, absolutely wonderful. In fact there were delightful wild flowers all over the mountainside.
A little bit of mist wreathing the background gives an atmospheric feel to this shot of Terry doing what he enjoys the most.....talking! After listening to Terry's opinion of how the country should be run and indeed how the world should be run, we decided to head down the hill. However we paused for this shot before descending.
Oh, and this one!
Sedge was about to trim his toenails (or something) with his knife.
As you can imagine, it was a wonderful walk with staggering views that we enjoy copie montre so much. Nothing better than the camaraderie of family and great friends enjoying the shared delights of this terrific island.
This view is looking down at the coastal resort of Paraiso Floral, on the way to Los Gigantes with Adeje in the foreground.
I loved this shot of a dead tree surrounded by lavender and Tabaiba plants, it just has good texture!
And of course we have to get a photo of the reward at the end of a good climb!
This tiny quaint bar in Ifonche had a good supply of ice cold Dorada beer to quench our well earned thirst!
A great walk and a great day. We are fortunate to have the circumstances and time to enjoy this lovely island and take great delight in sharing it with you.
See you soon X
