Pool was finished on Friday and being refilled through the weekend,

Steps completed, repairs made, tiles reset. Let's fill the pool!

These photo's were taken on Friday. By Saturday evening the pool was just about full and yesterday (Sunday) the pool was open.

Thank you so much to our timeshare owners, guests and visitors for your patience.

As promised, we will keep you updated on the progress of the essential repairs and improvement to our main pool here at Club Olympus.

The blockwork for the steps is just about complete and Evelio and his team are now going to clear the single step on either side of the new steps to make gentle ramps. Again this is to make it easier to access the pool. You will see what I mean in the shot below.

These ramps will be tiled in mosaic to match the rest of the pool area. Also, the walkway out to the steps will be re-surfaced and tiled in matching mosaic.

As you can see, we are getting there!

At the top pool we have installed a kiddies paddling/plunge pool and you can just about see Charlotte in the background waving from the studio apartment that we are using as a temporary bar.

Fortunately the weather is glorious so work can move on a pace!

We did of course mean the Cunard Cruise Ship Queen Elizabeth which visited Santa Cruz at the weekend!

The Queen Elizabeth was completed in 2010 and is Cunard's second biggest cruiseliner. Only the Queen Mary is bigger. This magnificent ship carries over 2000 passengers.

As we have mentioned before, Santa Cruz (the capital of Tenerife) is a beautiful little city with a stunning mountain backdrop.

It has many quaint back streets with an abundance of delightful bars, restaurants and shops.

When you are in Tenerife try and visit the city. It has a tremendous history and culture. There are loads of places of interest such as a military museum, an observatory, museum of science and museum of nature and man which you can see in the shot below.

This is a large museum with a fabulous collection including mummified bodies of the Guanche, the aboriginal population of the Canary Islands.

As mentioned there are plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from where you can enjoy local dishes such as this one below.

I actually remembered to take a photo before it all disappeard! Jamon Serrano or cured ham is a local delicacy served at this splendid eatery across from the museum.

So, when you are here in Tenerife next, please give Santa Cruz a visit.

Cheers and all the best.

Ivan

As mentioned in the last post, the main swimming pool at Club Olympus has been closed for essential repairs and maintenance.

We take the opportunity to give the pool a high pressure jet wash as you can see above. Maintenance team member Nico, gives the 'kids end' a blast.

Alberto and Ismail get to grips with the deep end, replacing tiles, sealing leaks and cleaning.

One of the reasons to close the pool is to create steps and rails to make it easier for older and disabled guests to get in and out of the pool.

The area for the steps is clearly marked and preparation for the construction begins.

Javi and Nico begin the block construction of the steps. They are working fast so as to get the work done and the pool open as soon as is physically possible.

Progress through the day is quick and you can see that these steps will be a very helpful feature of the pool when completed.

In the meantime the other top pool is being used and we have even used one of the Poolside apartments as a small bar to ensure that service levels are kept up.

The weather of course is spectacular as you can see!

We will keep you posted as to progress on the pool.

As of April 15th 2013, the main swimming pool at Club Olympus will be closed for a short while. We are undertaking essential repairs and maintenance as well as putting in steps and handrails to make access easier for our less able guests. We hope to have the work completed before the 30th of April

We have, of course, our other swimming pool at the top of the resort and extra sunbeds will be placed there. Pictured below is our 'top pool' which will be open.

The main sun-terrace will still be open as will the Poolside Bar. We will be putting in a temporary paddling pool facility on the main terrace for the youngsters.

Our neighbouring resort at Garajonay have kindly allowed us to use their swimming pool and terrace if our guests so wish.

There is never a good time to close any of our pools and we apologise in advance for the inconvenience this may cause, however this work has to be done so we aim for a time of least impact.

The Team at Club Olympus
