Over the last few days we have had some spectacular sunsets here in Tenerife and our guests and friends have been capturing them.

Here below is Mega Evan's sunset taken from the beach on Wednesday night looking out towards 'La Gomera' and you can even see the island of 'El Hierro' in the far left distance.

But how about this sunset taken last night from Club Olympus by Glenise Smoker on her iphone

Wow!

With 7 superb Golf Courses to choose from in the South of Tenerife, golfers can enjoy their sport at its best. We play in shorts all year round and leave our umbrellas in the UK!

Pictured above is Ivan of Club Olympus with golf buddy Joel (left). This picture was taken at the Amarillo Golf course at Golf Del Sur. It's a great course made interesting by it's proximity to the sea.

This is one of our favourite holes. You have to literally tee-off across the sea. The distance is about 170 yards but the wind is always directly in your face just to make it more fun!

With fairways like these, doesn't it make you itch to get your 'Driver' out?

There are some great deals to be had especially if you golf after 3pm. One or two courses are very expensive such as 'Abama' out towards Los Gigantes but the rest are reasonable.

If you don't bring your clubs, club hire is also usually reasonable or borrow some of ours, we usually keep a spare set or two at Club Olympus.

We don't take it too seriously but we do enjoy the fabulous golf that Tenerife has to offer!

We are always upset when we lose timeshare owners, over the years it sort of becomes inevitable. We recently learned of the passing away of one of our owners who really had a remarkable story.

Ruth Langham was a 'a bit of a wild child' (in her own words) but that changed when she volunteered to work in the Rumanian orphanages after the death of Dictator Ceascescu. Many of the orphans had HIV or suffered disabilities and desperately needed care.

Eventually Ruth adopted a child with a serious cleft palate, discovered he had a twin brother with a similar disability in another orhanage and adopted him too. She raised the boys as her own in the UK and they became familiar figures here at Club Olympus.

Ion and Dumitru entertained us often on the Karaoke, particularly with their version of 'The Crazy Frog'. The boys grew into fine young men. Devoted mum Ruth loved her hols at Club Olympus and became very much part of the Olympus family. Ruth lost her lengthy battle with cancer last week and we will miss her.

Pictured above from left to right are Ion (pronounced Yon), Joanne from Club Olympus, Ruth and her friend Viv. The twin missing from the shot is Dumitru, because he took the photo!

We have embedded below a fabulous short documentary made by Dumitru about their life. In this 10 minute film, Dumitru interviews his mum and family. It is worth watching and has already won a prize at the Cannes Film Festival.

We haven't had one of these for a while! All veggies, please look away now!

Yes, we were back at Restaurante "Era Las Mozas" in Valle San Lorenzo and Ray, our In-House Team manager was feeling a tad 'peckish'. The "Chuleton de Buey" or Chop from an Ox just about filled a corner.

Ray generally eats quite sensibly('ish) and is usually tea-total but every now and again he needs a man's meal.

And there it was........................................

..........................................Gone!
