Our upgrading and refurbishing of apartments at Club Olympus is moving along very nicely, however please note that these apartments are exclusively for the use of Club Olympus timeshare Owners and their guests.

We are very pleased with progress and the maintenance team have really swung into action. As we imagined, the improvements are happening faster as the team get used to the programme and become more familiar with the task.

Being able to bulk buy furniture, fittings and material in advance means that we can move rapidly to our next apartment without waiting for supplies.

Each kitchen is slightly different in size and shape so Designer Deborah Rhodes makes sure that the arriving team know exactly what to do when they arrive at their next project. Six apartments have already been completed and we are well on with the Seventh.

The 'Walk-In' showers are proving to be a real blessing. Over the years, baths chip or rust and can be slippery so our Owners very much appreciate the convenience of a 'Walk-in' shower. They are also easier and cheaper to maintain!

Overall, using robust materials will also make savings in the long run. Every item is put in to the apartments on the basis that it is easy to clean, repair or replace as time goes on. Everybody who has seen the completed apartments tells us that they very pleased with the results.

As refurbishment money comes in, it is 'ring-fenced' to be used only for the programme. We are so pleased at the patience shown by our members who are making their payments enabling the programme to leap forward. Every penny is carefully used to the maximum to ensure that our wonderful time-share owners get the quality that they deserve.

The Owners Committee and the team down at Club Olympus really appreciate the faith that you have put in the refurbishment programme and we want to show that we are delivering on that promise.

Please INSIST on seeing one of the apartments when you are next here. You will be delighted and again, thank you for your patience!

We have really enjoyed having entertainment on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons this year. They really have turned into exceptionally well supported Pool Parties.

The host for our afternoon entertainment is Gordon Slainey (pictured above). Gordon is a well known DJ from Oasis FM  Radio, one of the most popular English radio stations in Tenerife. One of our favourite Acts is pictured below.

Here is Comedy Elvis 'Leslie Presley' with Jodie Rhodes of Club Olympus. Our Elvis is really Leslie Moore, originally from Bolton in the the UK. His show is certainly worth watching, a great singalong and very funny.

Another fabulous act is the great 70' and 80's Band 'Black Lace' (pictured above). Originally from Yorkshire, Black Lace had mega-hits with songs like Agga-Doo, Come on and do the conga, etc. They go through all their hits plus much more. They are an absolute treat and original band member Colin Gibb with newer member Gordon King are brilliant!

A 'must see' is the Jersey Boys tribute show with Pip Brown (left). The boys go through Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons classics and get everybody joining in with their favourite songs. Frankie Valli has a much bigger repertoire that you can imagine and they all get a good airing. You will love it.

Shown below is Adam Saint as Rod Stewart.

Here he is doing what he does best. Crooning to the ladeeees! A great show and tons of fun.

Last but not least featured in the picture below are our ABBA'S Angels.

Rachel and Sarah really belt it out at the Poolside Bar and get everybody singing and dancing.

So there is just a quick review of some of the entertainment that we are featuring at the moment down at the resort.

Come and join us.

See you soon x

The main charity that we support is "Christel House" founded by Christel De Haan the former owner of RCI. 'Christel House' provides schooling and education for children in deprived parts of the world. As part of their fund-raising, a Golf tournament is held each year at several courses around the globe. In the UK it is held at Badgemoor Golf Club, Henley-on-Thames.

Club Olympus provide a team each year and always have a great time. Our team this year is pictured below with a couple of England Rugby Internationals who attended the event.

From left to right we have:- Iain Balshaw MBE (Leeds, Gloucester, Biaritz, England), Jono Darnbrook, Peter (Sedge) Rhodes, Jodie Darnbrook (nee Rhodes), Simon Shaw (Wasps, Toulon and England) and finally Tony Rhodes.

A great deal of money was raised for charity and the guys had a brilliant time.

Contrary to popular opinion, I honestly do some work BUT on days off I do enjoy going sea-fishing as you guys know.

I generally go with my mate Jamie Hinson who has a charter boat called "The Happy Hooker".

The Hinson family have fished the waters of Tenerife for more than thirty years and know the best places to catch big and small game-fish.

Pictured above is me (Ivan) sat waiting for something to bite at our 'Troll-Rods' at the back of the boat. This particular day we were mostly 'Trolling' for Amberjacks, Bluefish and Barracuda. We did a little bit of bottom fishing and caught two magnificent Stingrays.

Here is one whopper that we caught. We don't even bring them onto the transom of the boat nowadays to spare any further stress, we immediately unhook them and they swim away. Whilst they are edible, stingrays are not what we are after. When bottom fishing we want Sea-bass, Amberjacks, Trigger-fish and stuff that is generally easy cooking!

It was my Brother Tony's (also of Club Olympus) first trip out with us. He had a great day and had some good catches. In fact he caught the first fish on the boat with a nice Mackerel. I also had a good day as you can see below.

A nice couple of Barracuda and Red Snapper, all good eating. See below what I did with one of my Barracuda!

Barracuda, wrapped in a tinfoil parcel with Lemon juice, celery, onion, cherry tomatoes and chopped grapes, salt and pepper, in the oven for 30 minutes. Fabulous!

So all in all a great day. Fishing is just one of the many things to be done here in Tenerife. If you are interested in knowing more, please check out Jamie's web site here at The Happy Hooker

Jamie's boat is based out of Puerto Colon just below Club Olympus, about a 10 minute walk. Ask any Olympus team member and we will point you in the right direction!

We are sorry to let you know that our Alan is retiring from Club Olympus. Alan Gibbons has been with us for nearly twenty years and is very much a feature of our resort.

Alan has always loved people and takes great pride in caring for our Owners, guests, visitors, family and friends. He has spent hours visiting guests in hospital when necessary, looking after ones who are disabled or struggling a bit, making sure they enjoy their holidays here at Club Olympus.

He has been a constant presence, welcoming everybody and keeping an eye on everything to make sure people are happy and enjoying themselves. If something does go wrong he sorts it. His signature 'thumbs up' to everybody will be remembered.

He enjoyed a great working relationship with Resort Developer Hedley Rhodes and they were often seen laughing together. His work with us will always be deeply appreciated and we are sure you feel the same.

Many years ago, Alan worked with the local Radio service as the chief Marketeer of advertising. Having always been a bit of a 'Hippy' he rolled up to an interview with me (Ivan) dressed in a floral shirt, faded, raggy jeans, sandals, ear rings, leather bangles and a big bushy beard. I said "Al, you can't work with Club Olympus looking like that". "No problem Ive, I'll see ya tomorrow" he said.

Next day Alan appears in the bar, clean shaven, no ear rings, smart shirt, trousers and proper shoes and socks, only one bangle and said "What do you think?". I said "I think you start tomorrow" and so Alan's long history with us began.

Pictured above is Alan with his lovely wife Mandy.

We will miss him and we wish Alan and Mandy, all the very best wishes for the future and no doubt we will see them soon.
